But “I’m excited to see who it winds up being. The Siberian Express is on a collision course with Chuck. I’m talking, of course, about Rocky IV icon Dolph Lundgren, who has been tapped to guest star in the NBC series’ season 4 premiere, sources confirm to me exclusively.

No details about the action figure’s character were available, but it’s safe to say Chuck bosses Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak aren’t going to miss out on a chance to make the 53-year-old a ruthless villain.

Funny story: This isn’t the first time Lundgren has played a role on Chuck. In last March’s “Chuck Vs. the Final Exam,” Rogue FSB agent Anatoli Zevlovski’s alias was Ivan Drago — the name of the actor’s Russian boxer in Rocky IV.

Here’s a crazy thought: Maybe Lundgren is Mother Bartwoski’s new husband, which would make him Chuck’s stepfather! That would be hilarious. (BTW, still no news on who’ll be playing Spy Mom B.)

In other Chuck casting news, Big Love creep Harry Dean Stanton is also confirmed to guest star in the season premiere, titled “Chuck Vs. the Anniversary.”

Actress–author–model–animal crusader–Daily Show correspondent Olivia Munn can now add superspy to her endless list of hyphenations when she guest-stars on Chuck this fall!

Munn, who has a regular role on NBC’s midseason comedy Perfect Couples, will play an impossibly cool, smart, and pretty CIA agent who intimidates and schools Chuck and Morgan in the season 4 premiere on Sept. 20. That just so happens to be the same episode that features a guest turn by iconic Rocky IV villain Dolph Lundgren.

According to a Chuck insider, Richie will resurface in October when a prison transfer goes awry and her character, Heather Chandler, ends up being stowed away at Castle (a.k.a. the underground CIA base). But here’s where things get really interesting: I’m told her arrival dovetails with some serious bumps in Chuck and Sarah’s deepening relationship. And you better believe that Ms. Heather will use that rift to her advantage.

The search for Chuck’s mom has officially been terminated, and with good reason: Linda Hamilton has already landed the part!

The erstwhile Sarah Connor will make her first appearance as Zachary Levi’s MIA spy mama Mary Bartowski in Chuck‘s fourth-season premiere on Sept. 20. (Hamilton’s hiring is slated to be announced at Chuck‘s Comic-Con panel this morning.)

“We’re always looking for guest stars who will be great in the part, but who also speak to our audience and feel like it comes out of the universe of our show,” says exec producer Josh Schwartz. “If Chuck and Morgan were watching Chuck, they would be excited about Linda coming on board.” Adds fellow EP Chris Fedak: “Chuck was certainly a Terminator fan, and Morgan was a Beauty and the Beast fan.”

But Schwartz is quick to add that Hamilton brings more to the role than just a fanboy-friendly resume. “Obviously her body of work was important to us, but also knowing what this part was and the intensity that we were going to need from someone, Linda was a natural fit. She’ll be [kicking ass] right out of the gate.”

“The mystery surrounding Chuck’s mom is at the heart of the season, and there are going to be some shocking surprises in the first episode,” previews Fedak. “By the end of the episode we are going to turn everything on its head with regard to who she is.

"GENERAL BECKMAN" GETS A PROMOTION!


EW’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Chuck’s General Beckman is getting a promotion – to series regular!

Exec producers Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz confirm to me exclusively that Bonita Friedericy – whose stern taskmistress has guided Team Bartowski for the past three seasons – has been bumped up to a full-time cast member.

Friedericy’s “promotion” means that viewers will see more of her character – both literally and figuratively. As executive producer Chris Fedak states:

She’s an incredibly important part of the show. She’s like the Charlie to Charlie’s Angels… We’ll see her legs in the first episode, she gets to walk around!

Maybe I’ve been watching soaps for too long, but the second I heard that Timothy Dalton was joining Chuck as a mystery man with ties to Chuck’s mom (a.k.a. Linda Hamilton), my mind immediately went here: James Bond is Chuck’s real father. Admit it, yours did too.

But is it true? Did 007 and Sarah Connor make a baby named Charles Irving Bartowski?

“Consider that theory squashed,” responds executive producer Josh Schwartz, who declined to reveal what connection Dalton’s character shares with Mama B. “We’ll only say that they’ve known each other for a long time.”

Landing Dalton is a major coup for Schwartz and fellow EP Chris Fedak. The actor—who allegedly turned down an offer to join the third season of Sons of Anarchy—hasn’t appeared on an American series in more than three decades (since a 1979 stint on Charlie’s Angels). How’d they manage to lure him back?

“With my charm and Fedak’s singing voice,” deadpans Schwartz. “That’s not true. We’re huge fans of Mr. Dalton, not only for being a badass Bond but for his comic work in Hot Fuzz and The Rocketeer.

“In truth,” Schwartz continues, “we’ve wanted to have him on the show since season 1. When we came up with this part, we thought he’d be perfect. So we sent him [some episodes], he dug it, and then we started talking.”

Dalton makes his first appearance in Chuck‘s seventh episode, titled “Chuck Versus the First Fight.”

Αν και είναι πολύ νωρίς για προβλέψεις, σύμφωνα με το TVBTN τα νούμερα τηλεθέασης του Chuck ήταν τα αναμενόμενα από το NBC το οποίο είναι ανακουφισμένο που η σειρά κατάφερε να ανταποκριθεί στον σκληρό ανταγωνισμό της δευτέρας. Επίσης υποστήριξε ότι το γεγονός ότι το Chuck είναι προτού το the event του δίνει extra πιθανότητες για επιπλέον 9 επεισόδια.

Here are some highlights and minor spoilers:

Episode 4.13 builds to “the most epic possible moment in the history of Chuck as it was designed to be a season and possibly series finale.”

Assuming the season ends with the 13th episode means they have to move the storylines faster than if they knew from the start that they’d have a full season.

“The last 10 minutes of episode 13 are the best 10 minutes of Chuck EVER.” (They say this a few times.)

The extra 2 episodes – back order of 11 instead of 9 – allows them to explore stories they wouldn’t have time for otherwise, like Lester’s heart or Roan Montgomery & Diane Beckman.

They were surprised by the incredibly positive fan reaction to “Chuck vs. Phase Three”. It was such a different structure and focus for the show, they weren’t sure how it would be received. “It reaffirms what a great actress Yvonne [Strahovski] is.”

The fan art poster they chose for Comic Con was an Easter egg, according to Schwartz. “It was an early clue of what the season was going to be.”
Great will “definitely” be returning. They don’t feel that they’ve gotten the mileage out of Greta that they intended. They promise that the Gretas will have a payoff, “they’ll add up to something.”

They defended the fluctuating presence of the CIA, saying that the number of personnel depends on which other crises are happening around the world.

The first Die Hard movie and parts of Die Hard 2 are the only ones that matter.

The Cat Squad episode is the “female counterpart” of the Couch Lock episode.

They’re working on an Agatha Christie mystery-homage episode.

They’d pursued Timothy Dalton in previous seasons but he wasn’t available until now. They decided to build this season’s over-arcing nemesis around a specific person (Volkoff) instead of an organization (FULCRUM, The Ring).

We’ll see a lot of kicking-ass from Linda Hamilton as well as some emotional stuff coming up.

Asked whether Frost could really keep Volkoff on the hook for 20 years without any action, they pretty much confirm that the two have never been together. They referenced Frost as Volkoff’s “enforcer”, which ought to raise some parallels.

They’re trying to get back to Big Mike’s story, they still miss Anna Wu, but they have so many characters to serve that some fall by the wayside.

Asked what Mama B meant by “Your father never wanted you to see this”, both initially refused to explain it, then said that Mama B was referencing the Steven from Chuck’s childhood who didn’t want Chuck to see the Intersect.

The device Mama B used was a suppression device, it didn’t wipe the Intersect out of his memory. Is there anything new now that the Intersect has re-emerged? “Maybe.” All versions of the Intersect are still in Chuck’s head. The original Intersect didn’t have spy intel or skills or the first 3 seasons of Sesame Street, it was just the structure. It showed that Chuck was “special”.

What makes Chuck special isn’t the fact that he has the Intersect in his head, it’s also the “Chuck solution” – the way Chuck handles situations. Expect to see more of that in the back 11.

Can’t Chuck and Sarah ever just be happy? “What makes Chuck and Sarah interesting is that they have their own perspectives, but they love each other.” There will always be a certain amount of conflict because they’re two different people.

They’re hoping to bring back Anna Wu, Harry Tang, and Emmett Milbarge. Somehow.

Sarah’s catsuit in episode 4.12 is a reference to The Avengers. Also, there’s some nudity coming up. It involves Morgan. You’ve been warned.
